Throwback Alert: Duck Hunt available for free in the Android Market

Attention all you old school gamers. I just came across something in the Android Market that will surely take you back to the 80′s. The 1984 smash hit from Nintendo, Duck Hunt, is now available for free thanks to developer Denny Deng! Don’t get to excited though — you do NOT get a light gun when you download the app. What you will get is a blast from the past from one of the godfathers of all things pixellated. I still remember when I got my first Nintendo Entertainment System with the Mario Brothers/Duck Hunt combo cartridge. Definitely one of the high points in any young man’s life.

In the Android incarnation of this classic, you’ll be tapping the screen to shoot the ducks as they fly up over the hedges. Sounds pretty simple, right? Don’t be fooled, however — the ducks come up pretty quickly, so it’s not as easy as you would initially think. There are 3 gameplay modes to choose from. Game A mode will have only one duck, Game B mode will have two ducks, and Clay Shooting lets you get some target practice with clay discs. There’s also support for online scores which lets you keep tabs on scores from users around the world.

If you’d like to give Duck Hunt a try, head on over to the Android Market, and get ready for a dose of 8-bit mind-blowing (not really) graphics. You can get your copy by clicking or scanning the QR code after the short video I made for your viewing pleasure below:
