Twitter update for Android finally cross syncs ‘read’ Direct Messages

Twitter for Android
Not to long ago Google got things rolling with cross device syncing that would remove the “new message” from sticking around on your other devices after you read it somewhere else. It is a pretty big deal to a lot of us that have multiple connected devices and accounts. In an update that is now available for Twitter for Android, the same sort of cross-platform syncing has been implemented. If you receive a Direct Message (DM) and read it on your desktop, you won’t have the notification sticking around on your Android device anymore. This crosses over to your phone, tablet, Mac, iPad and the likes. Of course it only functions with the official Twitter apps for each platform. The update moves the official Twitter app to version 4.1.2 and brings a few other little things as well.

• As you search you can now see user avatars and clear past searches from the dropdown menu
• Richer search results indicate when there are new Tweets for your query and show account results with bios and social context

Sadly though, seems like a few people are still complaining about users avatars not showing up in their timelines and searches.

If you use the official Twitter for Android app, you might want to poke your head into the Play Store and pick up the update when you get a chance. If you are feeling a bit lazy this Monday, you can just click the link below.
