Two Dual-Core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon Chips Heading To Android

You can go ahead and add two new members to the Snapdragon family as they have started to ship to Android devices. The processors MSM8260 and MSM8660 are both dual-core and have been clocked at 1.2GHz. With an integrated GPS and GPU that supports Open VG 1.1 as well as Open GL ES 2.0, 2D, and 3D acceleration support displays up to 1280×800 pixels and are capable of encoding and decoding 1080p. MSM8260 supports HSPA+ and MSM8660 supports multi-mode HSPA+ and 1xEV-DO Rev. B. Although it is unlikely to see Android devices with these chips before the end of the year, Qualcomm has stated that more multi-core processors are in the works to equip tablets and other high-end devices this year.
