Two leaks offer up updates to Motorola Droid 3

Leaks are always a fun way to see what updates are being worked on behind the scenes. Especially if the leaks bring about something like Ice Cream Sandwich. Well ladies and gentlemen, that isn’t what we have here. Sorry to get your hopes up. Both leaked files for your DROID 3 do have some great improvements and new additions though.

CHANGELOG

5.7.902 Noticeable Changes:
Increased Camera Stability
MotoBlur speed is increased
Some reporting better battery life
Faster speeds due to new Baseband
CMAS (Commercial Mobile Alert Service) capability added.
Google+ added as Bloatware*
Newer Icons for select applications

5.7.905 Noticeable Changes:
Increased Camera Stability
MotoBlur speed is increased
Some reporting better battery life
Faster speeds due to new Baseband
CMAS (Commercial Mobile Alert Service) capability added.
Google+ added as Bloatware*
AmazonMP3 added as optional install for bloatware, is listed under /system/apps folder
Newer Icons for select applications

As drodian1441 makes mention, the Google+ app is HIGHLY integrated into Ice Cream Sandwich as a base application. Making this app part of the leaked files could mean that an ICS update is the next step.

You are able to flash either of these two build on a stock device or rooted device. Root is achievable on both updates using the DROID 4 root exploit but once you update you CANNOT go back to stock. So this is one of those times where you would really need to do some reading and seriously consider what you are about to do. If anything should go wrong, well, it is your fault and no one else’s.

To get the full skinny and pick up the files for yourself, head over to droidian1441’s XDA thread. Good luck.
