The HTC Desire was and still is a pretty hot little phone. With so many devices lately getting an official
Gingerbread update, some have wondered where the
HTC Desire would fit in. HTC had made mention that the device would be receiving Gingerbread by late July. Well, they sort of delivered on their promise. The release is in dev form and comes bone stock. Completely debloated and missing many apps that are generally included in the stock device.
Pay very close attention to the exclusion section at the bottom of the release -Â Deutsch Telekom, North and South America, Japan and South Korea and not capable of running this update. Installation is relatively simple. Download the file from
developer.htc.com, rename the file to update.zip, transfer to device memory and install through recovery. Even though this is not intended fro public consumption, I know many of you out there will give it a shot. Best of luck.
