US Cellular Now Has Android Thanks to the Samsung Acclaim!

If you happen to be some of the few that are currently with US Cellular you can now be the proud owner of an Android powered device, the Samsung Acclaim went on sale today. I looked up the pricing online and it’s not too bad, $99.95 after a $70 visa card rebate with the purchase of the $30.00 a month data plan which covers Web and E-Mail services. They are also offering one free when you buy one at the mentioned price.

If you aren’t familiar with the Acclaim it has a 3.2” HVGA touch screen display, 3.0 MP camera/camcorder with LED flash and sports Android Eclair 2.1 OS. It is a slider with a full QWERTY keyboard much like the G1. It bolsters 218MB internal with 32GB external storage slot. They’ve also hand-picked a few goodies to pre-install such as Twidroid, Evernote and The Weather Channel. Also included is an app called Tone Room Delux which gets you instant access to their over 120,000 ringtones and ringbacks. And what would Android be without navigation? They partnered up with Telenav and created ‘Your Navigator Deluxe’ which is free on the phone when you get it.

For a mid-range Android device, it’s pretty good looking. I know the folks that live where US Cellular is will be pretty happy to finally see some Android love. If you happened to be waiting for this device or already got one let us know what you think.
