Looks like Verizon and HTC have a special event in the works for November 13th in New York. While we aren’t sure why they would choose NY for the event this soon after Hurricane Sandy, that is what they have done. The invitations that are floating about are about as vague as they could possibly be. As you can read above.
We never like to wait and see what these events turn out to be for. No, we like to speculate and start a conversation. It is the holiday shopping season and plenty of great devices are hitting shelves, about to hit shelves and still need to hit shelves. The only device that we can piece together that they are planning to unveil will be the HTC Droid DNA. It is the collaboration device based off the HTC J Butterfly device we have all drooled over for some time. The Droid DNA has shown up a few times over the last few weeks. A press image and release date from @evleaks stated an early December release for the device. and just last night the DNA made its way through the FCC.
It is pretty safe to assume that Verizon and HTC will be showing us all the Droid DNA and giving us pricing and availability on the 13th. There could be some new Windows phone making its way to the show too.
We are still torn about the device though. Leaks talk of the 5-inch screen with a 1080p resolution, a Qualcomm S4 Pro quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM. Those match up to the HTC J Butterfly specs, which are listed below.
-
- Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor at 1.5GHz
- 2GB of RAM
- 16 On board storage
- MICROÂ SDÂ SUPPORT
- 8MP rear shooter with LED flash
- 2.1MP front shooter
- 2020 mAh Battery
- LTE Support
- Android Jelly Bean 4.1
- BT 4.0
- 1920 x 1080 Full HD Super LCD 3 FHD
The DNA should be coming in with Jelly Bean and a new Sense UI also. Since this is a collaboration effort between Verizon and HTC, there could be a lot of changes that could be for the better or the worse. One fear will be a battery size change and removal of the SD card slot. Leave to Verizon to take something that already seems amazing and mess it up a little bit. We won’t really know what changes they will have requested for the DNA until it actually gets announced. What do you guys think? Will this be the big come back device that HTC needs in the states to make some waves? Will Verizon butcher it up enough to make it not worth wild? Anything is really possible.
