Verizon and Skype partner for VoIP service on Blackberry and Android .


During the Mobile World Congress, Skype and Verizon officially announced that they will bring VoIP service to  BlackBerry and Android phones. Both giants will work together on this. That’s really a great news. The International call rates are way cheaper than the currently charged by carriers. The VoIP service will be available over WiFi and 3G. Starting in March.

Skype will come pre-installed on the BlackBerry Storm 9530, Storm2 9550, Curve 8330, Curve 8530, 8830 World Edition and Tour 9630 smartphones, as well as DROID by Motorola, DROID ERIS by HTC and Motorola DEVOUR .

Here is an example for you; If you call your friend who lives in Paris, France, FromVerizon, the per-minute rate will be $0.17. The per minute rate from Skype would only be $0.024.

It boils down to BIG savings by using this new service provided by Verizon.
