Verizon – Tiered Data Plans This Summer?

During the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, CFO Fran Shammo finally confirmed what was already rumored to be coming. Tiered data plans will indeed be making their was to “Big Red” this summer. He also stated that this would have happened when they launched the iPhone, however they wanted to give iPhone users the full experience. Of course he then said “Everyone knows that isn’t long-term.” While I’m pro-Android all the way, something rubs me the wrong way about that statement.

It seems that anyone that went through the process of buying a Verizon iPhone for the “full experience” just bought a gimmick. For those that switched from AT&T you got the same phone on a different band, with the same data speeds, imminent data cap, a nifty red check mark, and possibly better reception (and just so you know the device you bought is essentially the same as the one that AT&T has and the antenna issue is still present, best of luck to you). Of course this is just my speculation and me ranting. I apologize, I’m sure you Verizon customers are extra excited and I’d hate to ruin that.
