Verizon White Droid RAZR Sighted!

On the eve of its direct-fill release, the elusive white whale breaks the surface. I stopped in to my local VZW storefront this evening in the hopes of seeing just how pretty a white RAZR might be. Immediately upon entrance, the first half dozen associates who swarmed approached me indicated that it was “direct fill only” starting tomorrow, and they didn’t even have on in stock to show…

I then run into my trusted sales guy, one of the ones who is actually a hardware fan, and after schmoozing him for a bit, he says he has something to show me. Out he comes with the very object of my curiosity. As I’m studying it, he disappears again, and shortly thereafter, emerges with the directive to “sit tight, there’s one other thing…” but that’s a story for another day. Or at least another post, in a few minutes…

First impression, I have to say, I’m a little disappointed, as I was expecting a bit more thorough whitewashing of the body and definitely a whited-out glass mask, a la SGS2 white. I also thought that the camera/flash surround would be white, though I guess there’s not a good white rubber alternative for the around-the-case bumper.

It’s a good looking phone overall, and the execution is well done. Personally, I prefer the black chrome look and feel of the original, but would certainly understand the appeal of the contrast-rich black and white version.

What do y’all think?
