Viacom makes partnership with Amazon, expect more content Soon

One of the biggest issues many Kindle Fire owners have, along with Google TV owners, is the last of content providers. They know it is a desire and a struggle. Amazon has been hard at work to get more streaming deals set up among various movie companies and TV providers. Today they have announced that they have struck a licensing deal with Viacom for Amazons Prime instant video library. Bringing the total number of shows to more than 15,000 via the service.

What will this deal bring the users? It will bring in content from MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon to name a few. Expect Davids favorite show to become available, Jersey Shores and my personal favorite SpongeBob.

“This deal with Viacom brings Prime customers and Kindle Fire users thousands of comedies, kids’ shows, reality TV and much more from some of the best cable networks available. We now offer more than 15,000 movies and TV shows in Prime Instant Videos and are working hard to add even more great content.” Brad Beale, director of video content acquisition for Amazon.

What about Google and Google TV partners? Well, that is still a topic for discussion. I have yet to see any new deals get inked lately. I do vaguely remember the end of 2010 something about Viacom blocking Google TV from their content though. Maybe someday soon we can get some more support after new equipment emerges to make life better.
