Android 5.0 Lollipop is somewhat of an elusive beast at the moment, with only a handful of devices benefiting from it’s improvements, and fewer still have been updated past the original Android 5.0 release to Android 5.0.1 or Android 5.0.2. Which made it all the more interesting to see that on Google‘s own Android One website splash that it appeared to be advertising Android 5.1 on Android One devices coming to Indonesia soon.
It could just be a harmless typo, but it is very clearly in two places on the webpage so it’s either a very confused developer (5.0 or 5.0.1?) or we are indeed about to get the first major update to Android Lollipop, for Android’s most budget devices no less.
The website appears to show that three Android One devices will be coming to Indonesia, specifically the Evercoss One X, Mito Impact, and Nexian Journey. Obviously they’re not much to write home about specification-wise (they are for all intents and purposes identical), but anything goes in the budget market, especially when they’re going for next to nothing.
What do you think about Android 5.1 getting name dropped on the Android One website? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
