We all knew that when the Android 4.0 SDK hit the developers that a port of it would get started. SDK ports aren’t always the best nor are they perfect by any means. That doesn’t mean that we won’t flash away just to see the glitz and glamor. It happens every time a new OS is dropped in the SDK.
After doing a little searching this afternoon we came across two ports that already booting up. The first is on the Sprint Nexus S, big surprise there. We fully expected that to be the first device up and running. I am certain it will get a legit update from Google shortly after the Galaxy Nexus officially goes on sale. It is still riddled with issues as one would expect. The touch screen is hit or miss and issues with Wi-Fi and Bleutooth have issues. Good start though. The second one I have located today was definitely not a device I expected to see. At least not in the early stages anyways. siulmagic from XDA is currently in the process of getting some ICS goodness up and running on the T-Mobile G2/Desire Z. So far it boots up, that is it. No touch screen controls at all. Again, it is a start. You can follow the progress of the G2/Desire z via siulmagic’s XDA thread.
I love seeing all this ICS work being done so early. Things will really pick up once the source code is released. All the devs that are toying now will have a slight leg up to people coming in later. If you have been following or have seen other port in the process that are up and running, even if only slightly, let us all know in the comments so we can all keep tabs on their progress.
