When it comes to the Samsung Galaxy Tab, it’s pretty clear that this device isn’t going to come cheap and the next decision you’ll have to make is whether or not you want to use your device anywhere and pay for service or do you want a Wi-Fi only tablet?
In the leaked image above, you can see that Best Buy is planning on offering the Wi-Fi only Samsung Galaxy Tab for $499. With the recent Sprint announcement, they are offering the Galaxy Tab for $399 if you sign up for a new plan or are upgrade eligible and with the Galaxy Tab using 3G you’ll have the option between two data plans with the 2GB starting at $30/mo. and the 5GB starting at $60/mo.
Features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab include:
- Android 2.2
- 7″ WSVGA enhanced TFT display
- 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird processor
- TouchWiz UI
- Front-facing camera
- Wi-Fi
- GPS
- Bluetooth
- Micro SD expandable up to 32GB
Why would a customer that 9 times out of 10 already owns a smartphone want to add a tablet and pay an extra $30 to $60 a month? We figured that these carriers that will soon be offering the Galaxy Tab would offer maybe a plan bundle of sorts to make the impact of the tablet not so bad to their current customers’ monthly plans. Maybe when this tablet craze really kicks off, carriers will understand that they’re going to have to restructure their plans if they want current customers to consider another investment. Without customers, the carriers are nothing.
What do you all think?
