Google is planning on releasing several new sensor fusion API’s in the upcoming Gingerbread release. Many of which include quaternion, rotation matrix, linear acceleration and gravity. Sounds great! If you know what all those are. In a nut shell it will help developers to fully utilize the gyroscope working in conjunction with the accelerometer and magnetometer.
All these amazing new sensor technologies are coming from a company called InvenSense, which is the company behind the nifty Wii-Motion Plus addition many of us had to buy for Tiger Woods 11.
With true 1:1 sensors becoming more and more of a reality, one can only imagine what these developers are going to be able to do with it. You can take a look at the full Google Tech Talk below and see what other crazy things are on the way.
With the Nexus S running around out there sporting Gingerbread I can bet the interactions that will be available for that device will be mind blowing.
What kind of ideas are you already dreaming up for this?
