WorldDesk rolls out beta with Dropbox, bring your desktop Everywhere

Everyone is familiar with Dropbox. It is a great cloud based storage solution for having instant access to your photos, videos, documents and files. You can access it from your Android based device, any PC that internet and pretty much anything that can connect to the web. What if a storage solution isn’t enough for you. What if you need or want access to your desktop? There are solutions for that. You can install apps like PhoneMyPC, LogMeIn or a number of other applications that will let you access your PC remotely for viewing and operation. That causes you the need for 2 applications to achieve one goal. WorldDesk is ultimately looking to alleviate that with one application and bring your desktop PC with you everywhere.

With World Desk you will be able to pack up your desktop via Dropbox, a USB thumb drive, a smartphone or iPod. By using the Dropbox ability, users can access their entire personal desktop PC including settings, documents and applications from any internet connected device. Truly letting you take your desktop anywhere.

“The beta solution we’re launching today allows you to access, through your Dropbox folder, your full personalised desktop experience on any 32-bit Windows 7 machine. We are also currently finalising plans to roll-out across all other operating systems and on other leading cloud storage platforms.”

All of that sounds pretty good. It still is a little out there when it comes to fully understanding what it really does though. Here is another short video presentation of WorldDesk running from a Blackberry on a Laptop that sort of depicts what they are really talking about. .

Still a little lost?? Me too. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed sometimes. I have only just installed the beta myself and it is currently syncing all of my stuff to Dropbox. Which is going to take a lot of time sadly. I will be storing my desktop information to Dropbox, my Vibrant and to a USB drive and test it out through out the day and evening. Once I have had a chance to fully dig in and use it I will report back with more information.

In the mean time, if you are a interested to know more before I get a chance to tell you, head over to MyWorldDesk.com for more information. You will be able to download the application from there and get started yourself.
