Xiaomi is the rockstar among Android manufacturers in the Asia region, commanding a formidable, almost religious, following of fans. We’ve all heard stories about how Xiaomi’s marketing tactics sell phones faster than hotcakes, and their latest phone should do the same, especially when they claim it is the fastest smartphone in the world. The Xiaomi Mi4 was announced today in Beijing, China, by Xiaomi’s Lei Jun, showing off a device that wouldn’t have looked unusual in an Apple designer’s sketchbook.
The Mi4 also has the specs to back up its looks and Xiaomi’s claim. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz, the Mi4 also comes with 3GB RAM, a 5-inch 1080p display and a gigantic 3,080mAh battery. Xiaomi claims that battery will get you up to a day and a half of battery life. The cameras on the Mi4 are likewise impressive with a 13MP camera capable of 4K video recording on the back, and a 8MP low aperture camera situated on the front of the device, perfect for the artistic selfie. It is available in 16GB and 64GB variants which will cost $320 USD and $400 USD respectively. Not bad for the “fastest phone in the world”.
What do you think about the Xiaomi Mi4? Would you rather it than one of the other Android smartphones on the market now? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
