OnePlus announced that they would be using an “improved” invite system for the OnePlus 2, notably adding the possibility of registering for an invite via their website. Well, that website has just gone live, so you can register for a OnePlus 2 starting today. Based on the information provided on the landing page, the terms of the invites will be exactly the same as before – receive the update, register yourself on the OnePlus website and use it within 24 hours. The last part of that is a legacy from the OnePlus One, and I’m not really a fan of it – especially considering OnePlus says you could be waiting three weeks before your OnePlus 2 even ships.
All the same, the addition of a registration process does make it a bit easier for people who don’t want to grovel on forums for an invite – assuming the new system works. OnePlus is due to announce the OnePlus 2 in the next few days at a VR event for all to see.
