The guys over at Android France have posted about the ZTE Link Release Event (Google Translated) held this morning. ZTE are a Chinese manufacturer who are starting to make heavy inroads in Europe.
As quoted and translated from Android France:
In recent years, many Chinese manufacturers will flood the Western market their products. ZTE is no exception to the rule and can boast of having seen its sales increase by 150% last year in France. In 2009 the firm has sold 2.5 million of its products against 1 million the previous year.
The ZTE Link is low cost, entry level device, but unlike other devices of this nature, the ZTE Link apparently does not suffer in performance.
They got their hands-on time with the device and posted full specifications, lots of photos and approximate pricing (translated) of this new device. The device will cost between 1 and 79 euros and 149 euros without a contract from Bouygues Telecom. The ZTE Link will feature a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor and be running Android 1.6. The speed of the processor wasn’t listed but a quick search on the internet revealed it to be a 600 MHz processor.
