28 new markets pick up Sprint 4G LTE and 3 pick up Sprint Spark

Sprint 4G LTE
Lot’s of news coming out Sprint this morning. They just announced the new Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport that is slated for a July 25th launch. Along with that news they announced 28 new markets picking up 4G LTE coverage. This addition brings the city total to 471 and they are expected to cover 250 million people mid-year. Sprint doesn’t seem to have a list of the 28 new markets, rather they have a huge list of all of them combined. They do mention Seattle, Cleveland and San Jose as part of the new 28 though.

As for Sprint Spark, that service is now available in 3 new markets; St. Louis Missouri and Winston-Salem / Greensboro North Carolina. Sprint Spark is their enhanced LTE service designed to deliver 6-15 Mbps and peak speeds of 50 -60 Mbps. Their goal is to have 100 million people covered with Spark by the middle of this year.

Sprint will also be deploying 8T8R radios to help improve coverage and signal strength. The new radios will boost network reliability and be able to transmit more data at higher data speeds at 2.5GHz. The company is field testing it right now and is expecting to start deployment later this summer.
