The MONTAR Universal Car mount is one that is definitely cool to have. Outside of the sleek design, it features amazing grip and second to none suction. It is definitely one worth looking into. So let’s take a look at it.
As you can see, the Montar Universal Car mount comes in a small, plastic box. The contents of the box includes:

The Montar Universal Car mount is a very sleek product to hold and to look at. It is made of plastic, but not the cheap kind that feels like it will melt if you light a match by it. It is a very quality built product. Also, as seen in the photos above, it has red grip so that your phone doesn’t slip out. Though not shown in the photos, if you look closely at the first picture (top, left hand corner), you see a split in the grip. The grip is expandable and contractible. The reason I cannot show you is because it took both hands to hold the spring controlled grip open. It is very tense and is almost guaranteed to keep your device in place.
This is the Montar Universal Car Mount holding my HTC Evo 3D with a TPU casing. It still managed to hold it firmly, and the mount rotated properly without any slipping or loss of grip. The next two photos are of the 3M Film, which, as stated on the box, is for use “Where the suction isn’t working such as breathable surface.” It works fine, and also has good suction quality. What makes this so great is how strong the suction is, honestly! Even when the latch is released, the suction still grips.
I took it out to my car and attached it to the windshield to see if it would do what it was meant to do, and it passed with flying colors. While other car mounts would have required you to do quite a bit of work in order to get them properly mounted, the Montar Universal Car Mount attached immediately, so if I was in a situation where I was rushing, it would have been nothing to hook it up and go. From the Driver’s point of view (bottom, left) the mount can still be properly viewed and has adjustment can be done if needed.

So with that said and done:
What I do like:
I love the suction, the sleek look and the quality build and performance of the Montar Universal Car Mount. It was very easy to set up, and it functioned well. Another upside is the fact that I can wash off the gel grip that the suction is made of. I did notice immediately that the suction cup catches dirt like baseball player with a ball, but it’s good to know that it can be cleaned and still function. I hooked it to everything, my glass windshield, my wooden table, and yes, even my metal computer tower (on the side), and it stuck to all of them, great product!
What I do not like:
I have to be honest, the price point on this thing may turn some people away. You can get it on Amazon for $29.99, or directly from the website for $39.99, both sold by Winnergear, the maker of the product. I think it will be hard for the consumer collective to shell out $30.00 for a car mount, but I would still consider it a worthwhile purchase if you are tired of fighting with car mounts with bad suction cups.
