Update: Hugo Barra, Google’s VP of Android Product Management is stating that the AOSP HTC One will come with Beats.
Well, the rumors are true. The HTC One vanilla Android edition is real. The Verge is reporting that a Senseless HTC One will go on sale in the Play Store for $599 on June 26th. It’ll be unlocked as a GSM (M7) variant with LTE that will work on both T-Mobile and AT&T’s networks.
There’s no news as to what this means for HTC specific items that are under the hood such as its dedicated image processor that are optimized through Sense; an AOSP camera app vs the Sense camera is no comparison. Or, what will a move away from Sense do to the sound delivered without Beats? These have yet to be answered, but one possibility is that HTC will offer these items as Play Store add-ons. I’m inclined to think that HTC won’t be offering an à  la carte menu of items without the whole package, but one can hope.
