Report puts HTC One Mini on sale in August

HTC One mini
The slightly smaller and more affordable HTC One Mini has made a few headlines in recent days. The HTC One Mini will be HTC’s more entry-level version of the flagship HTC One. Sporting the smaller 4.3-inch display and packed with the less powerful Qualcomm processor. HTC is obviously taking ques from Samsung and their line of Galaxy S III and Galaxy S4 mini devices. Offering much of the same software functionality but bringing the specs down a bit to make them less expensive.

While it is sure to fit the lifestyle and budgets of many, the real news here is about a Bloomberg post reporting its launch timeline. As usually, the sources remain nameless, but they are claiming the HTC One Mini will be hitting shelves in August.

The new model features a 4.3-inch screen, compared with 4.7 inches for the original version, and will go on sale by August, according to two people briefed on the plans who asked not to be identified because details aren’t public. The device will probably have a less-powerful Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) processor and lower-resolution screen than the flagship, said one of the people.

Being sure to keep the info on the hush-hush. Earlier leaks put the HTC One Mini as holding a 720P screen, 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage and a 4MP UltraPixel Camera. Those are still plausible for a Mini version of the flagship. As always, we will have to wait and see what HTC has to say on the matter when they announce the mini. Personally, I wish these guys would take the mini concept and pact the same specs into a smaller device. While 4.7-inch isn’t large by any means, there are people who would love the power of the HTC One in a smaller package.
