The original Despicable Me movie was something of a cult favourite among animated movie fans and undoubtedly one of the more endearing characters in the movie were the Minions. Basically written as instant comic relief, these guys are cute, hilarious and full of slapstick humour just waiting to happen. So it was almost natural for a video game based on these fellows to be released ahead of Despicable Me 2’s movie release.
Despicable Me: Minion Rush is a new endless runner from mobile game giant Gameloft. We’ve been getting a lot of endless runners lately, but surprisingly I can’t really say that any of these games don’t warrant endless running; like Iron Man 3 and After Earth, Minion Rush seems to be perfectly suited to the antics of the Minions.
The game will put you in the shoes of a Minion, avoiding obstacles, being despicable, and battling boss characters. There also seems to be a healthy amount of running at different angles to change up the monotony of just running in one direction, which I think is a good direction for endless runners. There are also customization options, allowing you to dress up your Minion in whatever takes your fancy. And as this game is free, there is a healthy amount of IAPs for you to peruse if you want your Minion dressed with exclusivity.
