Australia has over the last 20 years experienced a doubling in obesity rates among its population and it’s even reached the point where 1 in every 4 children is considered obese, but thankfully there are some companies stepping in with innovative and informative solutions to help educate the young and their families and prevent this issue from getting worse; Australian supermarket chain ALDI is doing its part to improve diets for families with its ALDI Lunchbox initiative, which utilizes an app to hopefully change what gets packed into lunchboxes everyday.
Launched on iOS in February, the ALDI Lunchbox app gave parents and kids alike an education in what foods they should be eating and how often, helping as many as 76,000 families improve their shopping and dietary habits. And now, the ALDI Lunchbox app is now launching on Android to hopefully help reach even more families who might benefit from this initiative, which is backed by the Healthy Kids Association.
The ALDI Lunchbox logo doesn’t just exist on the mobile app; the logo can be see in all of ALDI’s supermarket branches next to foods that are part of the initiative which can be a great help to those shoppers who aren’t sure what to get. Personally I think this is a great initiative as families can get complacent about shopping healthily, and this is a great way to bring dietary decisions to the newer, tech-savvy generation. If you’re looking for the free app, the Play Store link is below, or find more info at the ALDI Lunchbox website.
