Initially, Big Red took a pass on the HTC One and left HTC fans with the options of the Droid DNA, waiting for a rumored DNA 2, or something else entirely different like the Moto X that wasn’t even an HTC. For reasons decided in a boardroom somewhere, Verizon had a change of course and said they would release it “later this summer“, which would be several months behind the other three major U.S. carriers. Additionally, leak master @evleaks reveled a Verizon One screenie with a Sept, 8 date on it (which is a few weeks shy of the end of summer).
Well, later this summer may have been pushed to early this summer because an HTC device PN07310 just passed through the FCC. It has the same bands that Verizon uses (LTE (band 13), GSM (850/1900), and CDMA (850/1900))Â and has all of he usuals including WiFi, NFC, and Bluetooth. A big tell however, is the name. The Sprint variant (which also is CDMA) has the NM8PN07200 FCC device code. Passing through the FCC usually indicates an imminent release, so expect to see the One in stores very soon.
I’m glad that Verizon has decided to go with the One, even though they’re a little late in the game. I have the Sprint version and would recommend this device to anyone. I’ve already had a few people on Verizon ask me what they should get and I’ve half-reluctantly directed them to the SGS4, which is a good device in itself, but not as good the One IMO.
