Most of us in the Android community have been very excited about the news of the Chromecast, a new device from Google which allows you to stream media. By virtue of its $35 price-tag however, the Chromecast is in very short supply almost everywhere, however, clever boffins have been trying to emulate the functions of the Chromecast with existing Android devices. CheapCast is one such app, allowing you to use the Android device it has been installed on to act as a Chromecast receiver would to let you stream media.
The app looks incredibly easy to use: all that’s needed after installing is to turn the service on in-app, then assign a name to the receiver, and Bob’s your uncle. This is the perfect solution for everyone hasn’t been able to get their hands on a Chromecast and has an Android device lying around the house, which I think will be quite a few of you.
The app is free, for which you have to thank XDA member Maui, so hit the Play Store link below if you want to try the app out. If you do try it, let us know how you find it.
