Starting November 21, Google Play will take a turn toward a more tablet focused app store. The Google Play team initially made the push for the ‘Designed for Tablets‘ section back in May. The new section will showcase top apps and games designed specifically for 7″ and 10″ tablets. With the success of tablet-optimized apps like Mint and Remember The Milk, the designated section will be able to give developers a chance to see greater results.
Users browsing through Google Play on a tablet will be able to see tablet-designed apps and games on top lists (Top Paid, Top Free, Top Grossing, Top New Paid, Top New Free, and Trending). You can also switch the view to scan through all available apps and games.
Apps that do not meet the ‘Designed for Tablets’ requirement will be marked ‘Designed for Phones.’ Google has a Tablet App Quality Checklist and Tablet Optimization Tips for developers to get ready for the change.
