A little bit of Paranoid Android, a little bit of AOKP, and a little bit of CyanogenMod, goes a long way in these Pac-Man ROMs. Now I have used Pac-Man before on my HTC One, as well as my HTC One S, and all they do is get better and better.
I flashed an early Android 4.3 Pac-Man ROM on my HTC One not too long ago, and it was plagued with 2 annoying bugs. I would get about 5-7 soft reboots a day, and utilizing HALO meant the whole screen would blink out anytime I hit the circle. Also, I would get some random UI crashes and hiccups, but it was still in its early stage. Now that they have reached a new milestone with Android 4.3.1, those little quarks have been remedied…somewhat.
This ROM ran buttery smooth on the HTC One, and I would consider it probably the best and fastest ROM I have ever flashed on my phone. They have come a long way with enhancing the Android experience, and it shows here in this build.
Now when it comes to added features, they have packed pretty much all you need from Paranoid, CM, and AOKP. But it is what they themselves have added is what WOWed me, and the first feature was animation controls. The have a setting within the Pac-Man settings where you can change up what your transition animations look like. It defaults as the slide animations, which is a nice little treat for the eyes once you first boot it up. Active Display was also implemented, so if Active Notifications is one of those features you loved from the Moto X, they have that ready for you to be enabled. Battery life is also pretty phenomenal, with about 9 hours with heavy use, and 12-13 hours with moderate use.
My only gripe with the ROM was that I still suffered from soft reboots. It was not nearly as frequent as it was when I flashed that early build, but I still would get them once or twice a day.
I could go on for days on what I love about this ROM, but I am just going to tell you this. If you are a fan of Paranoid ROMs because of the hybrid settings or HALO, just get a Pac-Man ROM. Yes, it is a Frankenstein ROM, but most of the features come from Paranoid. So why not get extra features alongside those Paranoid features? It really is a no-brainer, so if you are looking for something new with a lot of features; get yourself on a Pac-Man ROM. I cannot wait until they release a KitKat ROM, which they told me they are currently working on.
