I can’t think of the last time a device had an update planned even before the device went on sale, but you can thank all of the Google I/O attendees for this. In other words, pass out a few thousand phones and you’ll find out about any missed issues pretty darn fast.
In this case, it’s the SanDisk micro SD card that came with the Evo. Almost right away, there have been reports of problems ranging from failure to write to the SD card, phone hangups, and crashes. While the issue is easily fixed with a power cycle or swapping out the card for a different one, that doesn’t fix the software glitch. It’s great that HTC is taking steps to correct the problem:
We have identified the cause of the memory card issue and are testing a solution. We expect to have a software solution available very shortly that will be automatically pushed to phones over the air.
Those who have or plan to get a HTC should see the update in the coming days.
