One of the fun little things Google handed out at the end of the keynote was some cardboard, for Google Cardboard. It was pre-cut and packaged with all the parts need to build a make-shift virtual reality box that your phone slips in and acts as the display. Some say it was gimmicky, I thought it was a pretty damn cool little idea really. Google even offered up the directions in a PDF and links to what was used for a fun little DIY option. If you aren’t into tracking down parts and tracing a stencil and cutting and all the work that would go into building your own, there is another option.
DODOcase just sent us an email to let us know that they have taken all the work out of the project. For $19.95 you can get the whole kit without a NFC tag, shipped to your front door. If you absolutely must have the NFC tag then it would be $24.95. The whole set up should take you about 5 minutes. The downside, is that shipping estimates are 4 – 6 weeks. However,
they are factoring in that they have wait on all the parts to arrive, cut the cardboard, package and ship back out. They will ship from San Francisco, so there is that. DODOcase says they are playing the 4 – 6 week time frame out of safety to ensure ample time for production and delivery. It will probably be less. If you aren’t keen on the shipping timeline, you can always order the parts and do it yourself, right?
If you want to place an order then direct yourself over to DODOcase.com and get it rolling.
