Nvidia Shield Tablet render breaks cover, looks pretty slick

The next generation of the Nvidia Shield is a pretty hot topic lately. Various bits of information have circulated the web that have many us pretty excited to see the final product. We have heard a lot of potential specs and even a release time frame of August, or possibly July 22nd. Either way we shouldn’t have much longer to wait before we get final launch details, pricing and availability. While we wait for Nvidia to make the announcement, we continue to watch out for leaks and bullet points of information. It should come as no surprise that a render of what the Nvidia Shield Tablet will look like is now making its rounds.

Nvidia Shield Tablet

Looking at the image you can see some similar design elements to the EVGA Tegra Note 7 with what should be dual front facing speaker grills and front facing camera . The Shield Tablet, in this render, looks to be more of a silver than black. That doesn’t mean much though. The Shield Tablet cleared the Global Certification Forum earlier this month with an indication that it will play nicely with a myriad of cell connection abilities that could make it a candidate for carriers to offer where as the ordinal Shield was more of a direct purchase device. Mixing in the previous benchmark listing we have seen the screen size listed as 7.9-inches at a resolution of 2048 x 1536 and sporting the quad-core Tegra K1 processor ramped to 2.1GHz. The remainder of the information gets a little twisted. We have seen talks of 2GB  and 4GB of RAM. While another FCC filing depicted the back of a controller with a model number of P2570. The original Shield carried a model number of P2450. Not to mention a totally separate set of benchmarks that have a different set of specs all together.

My speculation might be pretty far out there, but could be possible. With the Shield being geared heavily towards gaming, the Shield Tablet is missing a critical key component, a controller. It is very possible that the P2570 is a revamped Shield controller minus the screen attachment and will be included, or as a separate purchase, for the Shield Tablet. One of the other talks about the Shield Tablet says it will be able to push 1080p at 60Hz to your TV through a HDMI out connection. A controller of some sorts will definitely be needed for not only that, but hardcore gaming in general. That still leaves the other benchmark scores that were uncovered out of the loop though. Those benchmarks offered up details of 4GB or RAM with a screen res of 1440 x 810. That resolution is a bit more vindictive of a 5 to 6 inch screen size for any type of decent looking graphics. I want to believe that Nvidia does have three devices on the way, an original Shield style device with better hardware, the Shield Tablet and a stand alone Shield controller.

Based on the leaks and the image above, what do you think?
