New teaser video shows Oppo N3 swivel camera moving by itself thanks to in-built motor

Oppo N3 swivel cameraNow, Oppo, you have my attention. After teasing our first official look at their new device, the Oppo N3, Oppo has released a teaser video today which outlines the function of the Oppo N3 swivel camera. On the face of it, it looks to be the same, manually operated swivel as the one found on the Oppo N1, however this new “Smart rotating camera” is actually operated with a built-in motor, allowing it to move itself into position when you change between front camera selfie and normal rear camera operating modes.

It’s actually a pretty cool mechanism and one that will probably serve to be quite useful. The Oppo N1 was criticized for having a much too fragile swivel camera so hopefully this new feature, which will reduce manhandling of the swivel camera, will win critics over this time. We’re not entirely sure exactly what’s going to be inside the Oppo N3, but it’s rumoured to be another 5.9-inch phablet and will come in two variants, one made from an aluminium-lithium alloy and a more standard stainless steel version.
