Project Ara pilot market headed to Puerto Rico, teaser trailer gets us excited

You all remember Project Ara, right? The crazy and super cool modular phone design that Google has been messing about with for a while now isn’t as far off being a reality as many might think it is. Today there has been a lot of technical details and talks for what is happening and what is t o come at the Project Ara developer conference, which is going on all day today and can be watched via a live stream. along with the tech side of things there has been a number of things talked about in terms of releasing the device into the wild.

At some point in the year Google will be rolling out a market pilot to the fine folks that reside in Puerto Rico. They will be among the first people in the world to have easy access to the modular oddity that is Ara. While that is awesome news, the video ad, or possibly teaser, video that Google is showing for Project Ara has us even more excited.

It shows a quick switch of a shattered screen, fast change of a camera module, night vision and little tid bits of so much more. Of course much of what we see in the video could still be well under early development and a ways off from reality. That doesn’t mean that much of it won’t be ready to rock when Google pulls the trigger for the market pilot later this year.

If you want to listen in on the developer conference you can do so by hitting the YouTube video stream below. It won’t be for everyone.
