Sprint starts rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop update to the Nexus 6

Yesterday was a big day for Google, Android users and the Nexus line. A number of T-Mobile devices started to see the updated tot he latest Android OS, Android 5.1 Lollipop. While the list was long, Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, it didn’t include the Nexus 6. This morning Verizon announced the Nexus 6 set to launched on big red March 12th. I assume the T-Mobile variant will have Android 5.1 OTA’s starting tomorrow as well. However, if you happen to be a Sprint customer rocking a Nexus 6, your update is arriving today.

You can expect all the goodies that Google announced as being part of the update like Device Protection that keep the device locked down even after a factory reset. Sprint also makes note that the update will fix duplicate messages being sent and enhancements to sending MMS messages to the UK.

As always, the update is being released in stages so not everyone will see it immediately. Bounce into settings and check for updates anyways though. If you do see it, make sure you have well over 50% battery life, a solid Wi-Fi connection and some time for the entire process to complete.
