AT&T has had a pretty long-standing track record of bringing the Active line of the Samsung Galaxy S devices to consumers. They carried the Galaxy S4 Active and they still carry the Galaxy S5 Active. It would make sense for them to continue the tradition with a Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. After all, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are quite a bit more premium and not so rugged. According to sources with SamMobile, AT&T is inline for a Galaxy S6 Active and it will change things up just a little from its more premium counter parts.
The device will carry all the same things as its brothers, a 5.1-inch QHD Super AMOLED+ display, come in various storage size options, sport Android 5.0 Lollipop, 16MP rear camera, Exynos Octacore processor and 3GB of RAM to give you a small reminder. However the battery will get bumped up from 2550 mAh to a 3500 mAh battery. Pretty substantial jump really. I imagine Samsung did this because the size of the device is also going to be a bit larger, coming in at 73.6 x 146.9 x 8.8 mm as opposed to 70.5 x 143.4 s 6.8 mm. If you make it bigger, why not fill space with more power? I can’t argue there. Samsung might also have it in their mind that users that live an active life and need the Active variant will be without power sources more frequently than premium device users. Again, I won’t argue there.
The report places the model number at SM-G890A and is supposed to make its debut on AT&T. No one has a date yet, but I would assume it should make its debut rather soon to really capitalize on the launch of the new line.
