No, that’s not a typo in the title. Yes, even before the Sony Xperia Z4 has been announced, we’re getting out first rumour about the Sony Xperia Z5. Specifically, the rumour alleges that the Xperia Z5, along with a Z5 Ultra and Z5 Compact, will be released in Q4 this year. What’s interesting is that the rumour says that the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Ultra will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, and that there is leeway for the launch to slip to January if the chip ends up being late – we’re assuming the Z5 Compact would get the same treatment, as before.
But that’s not all – the rumour reports that the Z5 Ultra will come with a fingerprint sensor, the first in the Xperia Z family to do so. In addition, the Xperia Z5 and Z5 Ultra will allegedly be coming with Quad HD displays, as is the new norm at the flagship level. But the most surprising rumour of them all is that the Xperia Z5 series will be a “completely new design” when compared to the Xperia Z4 – some would call going from the Xperia Z2 to the Xperia Z3 a completely overhaul, but we can only wait and see if this part of the rumour is true.
