In the two months since Android Marshmallow has been available to the world, we’ve already had two versions of it – Android 6.0 and more recently Android 6.0.1. A new rumour today is already suggesting that there is a future version called Android 6.1 Marshmallow in the pipeline, and that it’s going to bring with it split-screen support. While Android Geeks seem to be pretty sure about their source’s information, this rumour goes against what the Pixel C team (yes, a team that works at Google) said last week on the same matter, saying that split-screen support isn’t arriving till Android N – and Google almost never tells us anything (unless they’re lying).
According to this rumour, the Android 6.1 update – which would arrive in June 2016 – would be pretty miniscule despite the jump in version number with split-screen support the only real change – at the very least, it seems certain that we’re getting split-screen support. As for the rest of it, we’d suggest just waiting this one out as speculating about what Google’s doing generally results in endless confusion.
