Google and HTC have had a long history together, and rumours are saying that that relationship is set to blossom again this year. After making good on the Nexus 9 tablet, rumours are suggesting that HTC will be collaborating again with Google for not one, but two HTC Nexus devices for release in 2016. While what devices they would be making wasn’t detailed, if we had to guess, we’d anticipate that HTC would be working on a tablet to replace the Nexus 9 as well as a smartphone, either to replace the Nexus 5X or the Nexus 6P (we’d assume it’d be the former based on HTC’s strengths).
We can’t confirm the validity of this most recent claim and chances are we won’t have definitive proof until much closer to September when Nexus devices are typically announced. As always, we’ll have to take this news with a grain of salt, though it does hold some water as HTC has dabbled in both smartphone and tablet spaces for Google in the past and it would be great to see Google trying to help HTC dig itself out of its financial black hole.
