MWC 2016 is just around the corner and many manufacturers are starting to send out invites to the press for their respective press conferences. The date and time of the Sony MWC 2016 press conference has been revealed with the Japanese company making its announcements on February 22nd at 08:30 CET. There’s nothing in the invite to suggest anything in particular so we can’t help but suspect that Sony doesn’t have anything of particular note to announce.
Another key thing to note is that Sony didn’t actually even have any press conferences last year – its Xperia Z5 line of smartphones was announced rather casually via press release, and they’re supposed to be Sony’s flagship devices. If we had to guess, we’d be putting our money on some kind of wearable announcement – a new Android Wear smartwatch is long overdue and it’s possible Sony has VR ambitions away from the PlayStation 4. In reality, we’re probably going to be seeing some mid-range smartphones with decent cameras announced, but it’s always good to keep expectations high at least for a little while.
