Motorola has already sent out media invites for an event in New Delhi on May 17 when it is expected to launch the Moto G (4th Gen). Motorola is also holding an event in Mexico on the same day, and it is clear that the device will land in these countries first.
The design of the Moto G (4th Gen) was leaked through images that were leaked a few days ago. Its design looks like it is evolved from the previous generation, and now it appears that it has a metal frame. Speaking of India, the country’s import-export website Zauba has information that confirms some of the rumored specs belonging to the two newly, and still unannounced phones.
What we do know is that there’s a fingerprint reader on the Moto G4 Plus. Famous leakster Evleaks, posted a picture of what we believe to be of the Motorola Moto G4. In his tweet he mentioned “Say hello to your little bro“, and we think its probably Moto G (4th Gen) because its similar to the Moto G (3rd Gen).
The model number of the Moto G (4th Gen) is XT1622 while that of the Moto G4 Plus is XT1642, and both have been certified by the FCC recently. The Moto G4 Plus has also surfaced in Geekbench listing that reveals a Snapdragon 617 SoC and 3GB of RAM, while the Moto G (4th Gen) might come with a Snapdragon 430 SoC according to a previous leak.
The Moto G4 is rumored to come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display. The fingerprint scanner is squarish as compared other Android devices that have fingerprint sensors embedded into their home buttons. The rear camera on the Moto G4 will be 13-megapixel one according to the Zauba entries, while the Moto G4 Plus might sport a 16-megapixel rear-facing shooter with laser autofocus. Both these smartphones would feature 5-megapixel front-facing cameras (OmniVision OV5693 with 1.4μm pixel size).
Some variants of the device might also support NFC. You can check more details here. Both models are expected to come in Black and White, with interchangeable back covers available in different colors. Motorola had recently confirmed that the smartphones will be exclusive to Amazon.in. We should know all the details and pricing at the launch on May 17.
