Oppo has brought some great smartphone features over the past few years, be it VOOC fast charging or sensor shift image stabilization with its new camera sensor. We’ve also seen some great flagship devices with top-of-the-line specifications. Oppo has increased its stature in the smartphone industry during last one year selling 50 million handsets. The company has pushed Lenovo and Xiaomi out of the list of top 5 smartphone manufacturers.
An idea the company have been playing with over the past one year is a device that can be folded. The project kicked off back in August 2015 and apparently, Oppo had the first working prototype by February earlier this year. However, it is said that Oppo’s foldable smartphone is still in the prototype stage, and the actual market release of the device has not been finalised yet.
If Oppo has a working prototype with Android and VOOC on board, we can expect a retail version, sometime in 2017. We have also been hearing news about Samsung’s foldable smartphone which is expected to be the Galaxy X, and it is expected to feature a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display. On the other hand, Oppo’s foldable screen smartphone might have a 7-inch display. If these smartphone become a reality, we will see some great competition between manufacturers. Stay tuned for more details.
