We have a lot of Android phones to drool over these days. We may never get one Android iPhone killer but we may well get to see Android become the iPhone’s death by a thousand cuts. The Motorola Droid and HTC Nexus look to be just be beginning of a flood of new devices, each more tempting than the last. The HTC Supersonic seems like it could be another in the line of the Android phones to temp US consumers.
Overseas, the Sony Xperia X10 is getting ready to hit the market with it’s gorgeous Rachael UI. As that release nears it turns out there will not just be one Sony Xperia X10 but also an X10a. According to the Unwired, the difference appears to be in radio frequencies used.
The European version, the X10, will use quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE and triband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 900/1700/2100 MHz, which should also work on T-Mobile USA’s 1700/2100 MHz 3G. The Japanese version, the X10a, will use GSM/GPRS/EDGE and quadband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA at 800/850/1900/2100 MHz which should work on AT&T’s US network.
Which version is coming stateside first is anyone’s guess but it’s clear that 2010 is going to bring a glut of tempting new high end Android devices from the major smartphone players.
