Garmin Admits Slow Garminfone Sales

We know that T-Mobile’s Garminfone isn’t doing very well because of the price cut it received shortly after launch, and one report back in early July reported that this device has only sold an average of 5 devices per store. Garmin-Asus fired back saying that the GarminFone sales are fine and are moving along as expected. Well, the Q2 results are in and Garmin has seen a different side of things and has issued the following statement.

“Sales of our smartphone product category contributed $27M in revenue during the quarter. While this was below our plan, we are working aggressively with T-Mobile and other carriers around the globe on the appropriate positioning and pricing of our devices in the competitive smartphone space.”

Maybe Asus-Garmin was experiencing a little denial. It’s ok Garmin, accepting the problem is the first step in recovery.
