Would You Buy a Cell Plan from Walmart?

In addition to just about everything else you can buy at Walmart, the big-box chain is going to soon be offering discounted family plans. The Walmart Family Mobile plan, powered by T-Mobile’s network, aims to offer an alternative to the plans currently out there.

Walmart Family Mobile was designed with families in mind, and offers the easiest, most affordable way to enjoy high-quality post-paid service. Every line has Unlimited Talk & Text, so customers can be assured of no surprise overages when they receive their bill each month. The first line of service is just $45 per month, and each additional line is only $25 per month. In addition, Walmart Family Mobile has phones for the whole family from Samsung, Motorola and Nokia, including phones with the Android Operating System, QWERTY keyboard, touch screens and other features. Since there is no annual contract, customers can upgrade anytime by purchasing a new handset with no extra fees or contract commitment.

The Android they refer to is the Motorola Cliq XT, though it’s unclear if they mean the offerings include an Android with keyboard, or Android and QWERTY options. If it ends up being the former, then the Motorola Charm would be a good addition. All lines of service will come with 100MB of data. Not much for most Android users, but handy for people looking to stay on the cheap side with a bit of data for emergencies.
