Marvell Tri-Core Processor: 3D Gaming, 1080p HD Video,USB 3.0

So are you in the same boat as I am? Eligible for a smartphone upgrade and not sure if you should choose some of the nice devices out now, or wait patiently for something even better coming at the end of this year? Better yet, should we just scrap 2010 devices altogether and wait for the best of the best in the first half of 2011?

I have an HTC Hero right now. It is rooted, overclocked to 768MHZ, and running Froyo.  I have flashed so many roms on this phone and have it so dialed in, I can’t see many reasons not to be patient. Sure I would love a 4 inch Super Amoled screen, or a Hummingbird processor and the GPU that comes with Samsung, but is it enough?

If I am going to take the smartphone plunge right now, I need more power, speed, better graphics, and better technology to reduce power consumption since no battery technology is anywhere to be found. What’s ironic is that this technology is already here, available to customers for testing purposes and Marvell is the one bringing all this to the forefront.

So what exactly is Marvell bringing to the table that has me up in arms trying to make the best decision possible as to whether I should pull the trigger now or patiently ride out the storm? Try these specs on for size: 2 cores running at 1.5GHz each, and the third at 624 MHz (that’s triple-core in case you need to do a double take), integrated graphics with the ability to play 3D High def video and full 1080p HD video, and finally support for USB 3.0.

Combine that chip with a beautiful HTC or Samsung device and I will sell my car to get my hands on one! In summation I think it would be prudent to wait just a bit, patience is purportedly a virtue, but the speed of technology has a funny way of tempering it.

Come on Marvell, hurry up and bring it!!!
