Android boasts worlds of potential, with it’s superior notification interface, multitasking abilities and open platform. One place the iPhone has had the advantage is the volume and qualtiy of apps in its Store. With the iPhone App Store boasting over 100,000 apps, the Android Market has closer to 10,000 apps. Day by day we see this advantage lessened as the Android user base grows.
One of the more popular iPhone Apps, the MLB At Bat app is probing the Android waters. Early last month they released a beta version of their official At Bat baseball application on their website only and we recently tested it.

The interface is clean, simple and easy to use. Users can watch live video, condensed games and highlights or listen to live radio broadcasts. You can also get recent box scores, and news. The app is in beta but already works well for the most part on a G1 running Eugene373’s 2.0 AOSP 1.9. It did have serious video issues at time where only a black screen or stuttering video would appear.
Still, with months until the baseball season returns, there is no doubt this app will be a must have for any baseball fans and will certainly provide users an alternative to the iPhone. Screenshots after the break.
