Uh oh George! Say it aint so! We all knew that the new Sidekick would not be made by Sharp or be tied into Danger or Microsoft anymore, but is Samsung the best choice? I’m torn on this one. Samsung makes great hardware, I’ll give them that, but we all know how good they are with software and software updates. Should prove an interesting venture for all parties included.
With the photos I have seen from around the web, the home screen is looking a lot like the old Sidekick set up. With the infamous icon wheel. As far as I can tell it is going to be yet another custom UI. Which is not always a horrible thing, but can usually lead to complication in those timely software updates T-Mobile is now promising.
I am very curious on how this device functions. Will the Custom UI be locked into the device and prevent people from using other home replacements? Will it get software updates through an OTA or through Kies mini? I have lots of question that need to be answered before I can even think about getting excited for this device.
According TmoNews and Androidandme, they have both received confirmation from 2 different sources, that Samsung is indeed making the Sidekick 4G. Does the simple news of Samsung making this device make or break it for you?
