Although this may not be as big of a deal to Nexus S owners as it is to the Nexus One owners that just got their update, there’s still something to be excited about. You get WebM support, and NFC tags, as well as a fix for the random reboots. For those of you that can’t wait for the OTA to hit your phone, installation is easy.
- Download the OTA update file from here.
- Rename the file to update.zip.
- Copy the update.zip file to the root of your SD card.
- With your Nexus S off press and hold the volume up button as you power up the phone.
- You should see a screen that shows you the phone’s system looking for files, scroll down using the volume down button and select Recovery by pressing the power button.
- You should now see a yellow triangle on your screen, now press the power + volume up button at the same time to apply update.
- When prompted, chose apply update.zip and enjoy the new features on your Nexus S.
Although you already had Gingerbread, you gained a few extra features and fixed a few pesky bugs. Have fun!
