Motorola’s elusive Droid X2 has been in the news more than a few times as of late, without even a whisper from Motorola or Verizon confirming it’s existence. Times have changed as the Droid X2 has now been announced and will be for sale online tomorrow for $199, making it to physical stores by May 26th.
You might be thinking it looks just like the Droid X, and you’d be right, however the X2 is the first of its kind. With the Bionic slipping through the cracks the Droid X2 is the first among Verizon’s Droid devices to sport a dual-core processor and qHD display. Of course that not all this phone has to offer as you also get a 4.3-inch scratch-resistant screen, HDMI-out, and while the device comes with Android 2.2 a speedy update to Gingerbread has been mentioned.
I’m sure this news brings a line of excited Droid fans, who finally have a dual-core option to compete with offerings from other carriers. Unlike some of the other devices released on Verizon lately the Droid X2 has maintained the usual $200 initial price tag making it even more appealing. More information can be found in the press release below.
